Brief
To redesign the existing garden to link with the new kitchen extension and create a more contemporary feel.
Solution
Sawn yorkstone was used for the garden patio to match the kitchen flooring - stylishly uniting the inside with the outside. We chose a simple geometric design for the patio that creates a seating area away from the house with a view looking across the garden and is partially hidden by the silver birch tree and planting. The planting is mixed, providing long seasonal interest, with a vibrant palette of lime green, pink, silver, black and the rich red of the Acer palmatum. A useful storage cupboard adjacent to the kitchen also provides a herb bed for easy picking. Later we added slim black galvanised planters to edge both sides of the patio.
