Wanstead Garden
Garden rescue
Brief
The garden was in a terrible state. The fences were falling down and the original decking was in poor condition. The lawn and planting areas were overgrown with a lot of bindweed. The basic design was to be kept but the garden badly needed rescuing!
Solution
The decking area was reduced and repaired, and new fencing was installed. The whole garden was treated to get rid of the invasive bindweed. The metal-edged beds were retained but extended to provide more planting. A new lawn was laid and all the beds were replanted. The gorgeous, dark purple Cotinus coggygria ‘Royal Purple’ and Heuchera ‘Plum Pudding’ were used to echo the copper beech trees that can be seen in the cemetery which the garden overlooks.
